Wonder Riot Creative • The Blog

March 11, 2019

Hey, guys! I'm Jess. I'm so glad you've taken the time to stop by my little neck of the virtual woods. This project (Wonder Riot Creative) has been stirring in my heart for such a long time that I started to wonder if it would ever come into fruition. I wanted this to be a space for creatives — to uplift + aid you all in your creative pursuits. I also wanted a space where I could fuse my love of writing with my love for all things artsy.

To give y'all a little background, in 2012 I started my first blog, but it never had a central focus in mind. What started as a way for me to cope with my dad's passing (he died from cancer, if you were curious) quickly faded into a tangled web of recipes and currently posts that offered nothing of importance or depth — "fluff posts" as I call them. I kept it up for a few years, going back and forth between wanting to stop blogging altogether and keeping it up. I always had a tug on my heart to keep writing because I feel like it's one of the best ways I know how to communicate with others. So, after years of hanging onto my other blog, I decided to take a year off. That year grew into 2 and now we're here. I'm starting over fresh with a new vision in mind.

I want this to be a space where I can combine the joy I get from encouraging others with my knack for written communication and passion for creativity. I want to help you tap into the creative potential that God has placed inside of you and use it for His glory. But, above all, I want you to feel like you have a friend in me. You have a space where you can come and find community. You have others who can relate to the struggles you deal with as a creative (artists, writers, musicians, etc.). Whether you are just tapping into your creative side or you have devoted years to developing your talents, you are welcome here!

In this space, you can expect to find tips/tricks for conquering your fear, artist spotlights (where I'll be featuring some awesome artists I have found via Instagram) and creative events happening around the Tampa Bay area for all my local readers. As of right now, I am planning to post once a week, every Monday. As much as I would love to grace your feeds a couple times a week, that just isn't realistic for me during this season of my life. If you didn't know, I'm currently working part time as well as pursuing a degree in digital graphic design. So, I'm sure you can imagine how much of my time is a juggling act right now. However, I do want to be consistent with showing up here + I'm looking forward to serving this little creative community!
